Aerial Lighting in Miami

Units from spot to full wide-exterior output. Night operations approved.

Aerial lighting over water is a specific discipline — there is nothing to rig to, and a boat is a moving platform. For beach and waterfront night exteriors, an aerial unit is frequently the only way to get a source above the subject at all.

Airborne lighting units standing in for a helicopter searchlight, moonlight over a wide exterior, a police spot, or a source that has to move with the shot. On night exteriors where a condor cannot reach or cannot get there in time, an aerial unit puts the light exactly where the DP wants it and moves it between setups in seconds.

When Miami actually flies

Hurricane season runs June through November and brings temporary flight restrictions along with the weather. Winter and early spring are the prime window, which is exactly when the market is busiest and books out furthest.

The Miami production market

Miami runs on commercials, music videos, fashion and an increasing volume of Spanish-language production, alongside features that come for the look. Turnarounds are short and clients expect an aerial unit that can move at that speed.

We shoot South Beach, the causeways, Brickell, and the water — and we travel. CineDrones works nationwide, so if your production is basing in Miami and shooting somewhere else entirely, that is a normal week for us.
